Personal Care & Support

Milford Del Support Agency Ltd is an Isle of Wight based family run business providing care and support for people who cannot wholly look after themselves.

Care and support is provided either in our service users own homes, or in the community, at times convenient to them and in a way that meets their own individual needs and preferences.

Services we Provide

Milford Del Support Agency Ltd provides an island wide service.  All care/support is carefully tailored to the service user’s individual needs.  Consequently no two packages of care are the same.  It is not uncommon however for us to provide support in one or more of the following areas, or for the package of care to change over time to reflect the changing needs or interests of our diverse service users.

  • Domestic Support – including housework, shopping, meal preparation, laundry, ironing, dog walking, collecting pensions or prescriptions
  • Personal Care – including assistance dressing/undressing, washing/shaving, toileting, getting up and going to bed, prompting or administering medication
  • Other – a sitting service, socialisation, activities, transport or support accessing community facilities

People for Whom Services are Provided

– People with learning difficulties

– People with physical disabilities, including acquired brain injury

– People with sensory loss

– People with mental health problems

– Older people

– Children and their families

– Personal or family carers

The Milford Del Philosophy

We wish to provide the quality of care we would want for ourselves and members of our family.

Therefore Milford Del has sound principles for the way in which we run our service.

Central to these is our belief that the rights of Service Users are paramount.

Our principles

  1. To focus on Service Users

We aim to provide personal care and support in ways which have positive outcomes for Service Users and promote their active participation.  Our managers will, from time to time, informally check with you that you are consulted and involved in your care and that it is making your life more comfortable.  We will use the feedback from our Service Users to inform our service development and future planning to ensure we remain Service User focussed.

  1. To ensure we are fit for purpose

We examine our operations constantly to ensure that we are successfully achieving our stated aims and purposes.  To this end we welcome feedback from our Service Users, their friends, relatives and other professionals involved in your care.

  1. To work for the comprehensive welfare of our Service Users

We aim to provide for each Service User a package of care which contributes to their overall personal and healthcare needs and preferences.  We will co-operate with other services and professionals to help to maximise each Service User’s independence and to ensure as fully as possible their maximum participation in their community.

  1. To meet assessed needs

Before we provide services we ensure that a potential Service User’s needs and preferences are thoroughly assessed.  We aim to ensure that the care the agency provides meets the assessed needs of each Service User, that needs are reassessed as frequently as necessary, and that the care and support provided have the flexibility to respond to changing needs or requirements.

  1. To provide quality services

We are whole-heartedly committed to providing top quality services and to continuous improvement in the level of the care we offer.

  1. To employ a quality workforce

Standards for our managers and staff are based on the national occupational standards for the care industry set by the National Training Organisation.  The Directors of Milford Del Support Agency Ltd, all of whom are family members, have many years experience providing care services to Service Users and indeed their own extended family.  We are committed to maintaining our own professional development and ensure all our staff are trained, undertake continued professional development and provide a caring and responsive service to our Service Users.
